Households

Because preparedness looks different for every household.

My Prepared, Not Scared: The Game Plans (First Edition) is a loose-leaf emergency planning guide designed to help individuals, couples, families, roommates, caregivers, and pet owners create practical plans before an emergency happens. Built to make your time, money, and energy work better for you—not against you.

Welcome to the Side Quest. How can I help make your time and money work better for you before an emergency hits?

I created The Game Plans as part of my Master's project alongside the Emergency Planner. As I researched preparedness and planning behaviors, I noticed that many emergency resources focused on supplies but rarely addressed the people and relationships involved in an emergency.

Preparedness isn't just about what you own—it's about knowing what to do, who needs your help, and how to work together when things don't go according to plan.

I designed these guides to make emergency planning feel more approachable, adaptable, and realistic for different household situations.

What's Inside

Six different emergency planning guides designed for different living situations:

  • Solo Adventure
Know where your things are. Be prepared, not scared. This guide helps individuals organize supplies, important information, and evacuation plans.
  • Lover's Task
It's just the two of us. Let's delegate tasks so we know what we're doing. This guide helps couples create shared responsibilities and emergency plans together.
  • Just Roomie Things
Whether it's one roommate or eight, figure out a system so everyone can get out safely and quickly. This guide focuses on communication, responsibilities, and shared emergency planning.
  • The Tag-Along
Some loved ones need additional care and support. This guide helps you create plans for elderly family members, infants, or individuals with disabilities while ensuring everyone's needs are considered.
  • Family Alert
Growing families come with growing responsibilities. This guide helps families create emergency plans that involve children and encourage preparedness in ways that feel informative rather than scary.
  • Fur Babies
Pets are family too. Since many emergency shelters have restrictions for animals, this guide helps you plan ahead so you can stay prepared and keep your furry loved ones safe.

How to Use It

Choose the game plan that matches your household situation and use the worksheets to think through responsibilities, supplies, communication, and evacuation planning. Complete one section at a time and update your plans as your household changes.

Preparedness isn't about predicting every emergency. It's about creating systems that make responding feel less overwhelming.

Who It's For

I made this for the beautifully faulted human who wants to be prepared but isn't planning for life alone.

It's for individuals building independence, couples learning to work as a team, roommates sharing responsibilities, families navigating parenthood, caregivers supporting loved ones, and pet owners who consider animals part of the family.

If you've ever wondered, "What would we actually do if something happened?" these guides are designed to help you answer that question together.
