The Story

Jane was created to be more than just an adventurous character. I wanted her to carry pieces of my own journey and reflect one of the ideas at the heart of Faultedlines: being beautifully faulted doesn't mean being broken.

The inspiration for this design comes partly from the Japanese art of kintsugi, the practice of repairing broken pottery while highlighting the places where it has been mended. I've returned to that idea in my work because it reflects something deeply personal: even when I wish I could live without regrets, there are still parts of me that feel chipped, changed, and mended by the things I've experienced.

Those marks don't erase what came before.

They become part of the story.

Jane represents that same idea. She keeps moving forward, not because she's untouched by difficulty, but because every experience has helped shape who she is.
